The first part of the design process is about listening to our clients.
In our experience - the best projects emerge from great and constructive conversations with our clients.

This is a time to hear about our clients: Initial thoughts, hopes, Ideas, brief requirements.

All thoughts and ideas can enrich the project - I saw this! or I thought about this! - sometimes its the most whimsical things which can lead to a great idea.

COMMUNICATING IDEAS - PRAGMATIC BUT CREATIVE

The next stage is about coming up with ideas, narratives and ways to ingrain that listening and discussion from the previous stage - into carefully thought out, pragmatic yet creative and engaging manifestations.

Sometimes there are multiple options, sometimes we just present what we think is the best option. This is decided on a project by project basis but is why clients engage architects for their expertise.

These are typically expressed through drawings and diagrams, physical models, 3D models - easily understood methods of communication.

We still love making physical models. New technologies like 3D printing are great but there is still nothing like a hand-made physical tactile model that a client can pick up and immediately understand in three-dimensions.

We understand not all clients can read technical plans and sections - for us its about whats the best way of communicating ideas so our clients understand them.

TRANSLATION OF IDEAS INTO ARCHITECTURE

The next stage is about taking those Ideas and design concepts and turning them into physical and constructible pieces of architecture.

As a core collective we have an excellent and rounded understanding of fabrication, craftsmanship and construction through proven experience.

We love working with crafts people, specialist contractors and builders to come up with the best practical solutions to facilitate integrity of design, budget, manage risk and build to an excellent quality.

We also have access to hands-on manufacturing facilities whereby we are able to make 1:1 prototypes and test ideas so that we are able to comprehensively understand building parameters and complexities of how things are made.

DOCUMENTATION & DETAILING

Construction documents are prepared by our highly capable team of architects. This process is worked, developed and overseen by both directors throughout the entirety of the process.

Our documentation drawings sets and architectural specifications are second to none.

We pride ourselves on attention to detail and superbly comprehensive documentation packages. This carries across to building relationships with contractors who understand what we are about and what we want to achieve for our clients and importantly maintaining budget by reducing the risk of variations during construction.

We are constantly working on ways to improve and exceed both our clients and our expectations on each project.

We have developed a series of Risk Mitigation Protocols in conjunction with a thorough and detailed Risk Assessment and Management Report which have been crucial maintaining consistency in producing buildings which are on time, on budget and of excellent quality.

Our Risk Mitigation protocols have been created through years of proven experience and development. We recently worked with See Visualisations who currently work with high-profile organisations such as Stamford University, British Aerospace, Qantas and other large corporate organisations to translate large complex pieces of information into concise visual storytelling. Why is this important?

We see great communication as the key to successful relationships with our clients, consultants, councils, sub-contractors and builders which ultimately results in highly successful project outcomes.

THE PROCUREMENT & CONSTRUCTION STAGE

We have extensive proven experience working on small, medium and large scale building projects from start to handover.

Our commitment goes far and beyond the norms of the typical building process and that can be attested through a great number of accolades for design excellence and delivery, but most importantly through client feedback from completed projects.

Importantly - We have a broad and comprehensive understanding the ins and outs of building contracts and specific processes. This allows us to maintain a fair, rigorous and highly professional building process between our clients and builders.
