The studio is led by Architects - Ellie Farrell + Brad Wray
Read more about Ellie + Brad here:

Ellie + Brad work collaboratively together on all projects and in all aspects [from design through to administration] with over 20+ years of industry working experience across a broad range of local and international award winning projects.

Our studio is recognised primarily for its residential and educational based projects - where we genuinely believe and have experienced how good, thoughtful design can make a positive contribution and bring joy to both individual and multiple people’s daily lives.

The types of projects our studio works on is broad from residential houses [coastal, rural or urban] to schools to community & civic projects, Interior fit-outs to furniture design. The design of an apartment, the design of a holiday retreat. We are excited about the prospect of any design challenge and the possibilities which may arise from them.

In our educational body of work - We find it particularly rewarding to see the smile on students faces, the joy and the positive feedback we receive when projects are handed over and new stories and experiences begin.

We have designed projects where for example: book borrowing has tripled as a result of an extensive renovation we designed and delivered [Pamela Coyne Library for St Monica’s College in 2014].

Similarly - We have designed houses [House with Earthen Walls, 2022] where our clients have got in touch months later stating how much the house we designed for them has improved their connection to the landscape & nature, light and air, how much the house has improved their connection to one another, their families and just generally has made them feel overall happier as a result.

The people [both Ellie & Brad] you meet at the founding meetings are the people you deal with right through the duration of the project and we really pride ourselves on this unique approach to all of our projects.

We are flexible, experienced, collaborative and creative people who work hard to see our shared client and architect visions come to life. We understand how to work with a budget and how great communication is key to successful outcomes.

PROCESS

Each project begins with an idea or conversation with our clients that grows into a narrative, subtly embedded and revealed through moments of discovery within our buildings and spaces.

Through thoughtfully refined form, materiality and crafted details, we create buildings that are enduring, sustainable and able to evolve with the life they hold.
